Power steering pump Question
Power steering pump has been failing for a while. When I add psp fluid, the power steering works ,but it whines extremely loud with every turn, and it leaks everything out within a few hours of running. Tried stop leak with zero luck.
I know I need a new pump and reservoir, is there anything else that goes along with that ? Maybe the high pressure hoses? I will have a shop do the install, but I want to buy the parts to avoid crazy prices . Just curious what all I need.
Any help/info is appreciated 👍👍👍
Also, the fluid has been drained out for a while, driving without power steering, not comfy but gets me to work.
However most days it has a small to medium size metallic sounding whine, usually right at start up. I'll spray the pulleys with belt conditioner and it stops for a few seconds , then dulls down to a very small sounding whine, I notice it because it's mine, but it's not bad. Would that be the pulley? Or the pump itself? Would I need a new pulley as well?

I would be very careful supplying my own parts,, here's why.
If the shop supplies the parts and they are defective for any reason , they eat all the cost for parts problems...
If you supply the parts and there is any type problem, you will eat all the cost to correct, not any real saving there.

Yea, I second that. I like the idea of the cheaper parts on line, but you get zero warranty, and if you do, and if you ever have to use it, all I can say is good luck. I just go to the parts store, and they will almost always have some sort of warranty, usually just saved under your phone number. Real easy and simple.
