Steering box rebuild or replace?
Im new to this forum and fairly new to wrenching on cars. I recently brought my ‘94 Sierra K1500 (350 TBI) to a shop for an alignment after replacing some suspension parts. They told me my power steering gearbox needed replaced. I know rebuilding would be much cheaper than buying a new one but is it worth the headache and time? If rebuilding is the way to go, what kit should I buy? Should I replace pitman arm as well? I have multiple questions if somebody could help me out.
I can't answer all your questions, but for your vehicle, you can get a rebuilt gear box for as low as $75.89 at Rockauto.com. Or new for $297. They also sell the various parts to rebuild it yourself - the gears and seals, but the question is do you have the time and the tools to rebuild it yourself?
Here are the gear boxes (rebuilt and new) they have for sale:

I've got a 1996 C1500 with 203K miles on it, and can tell you at that price, I would get the rebuilt gear box and swap it out, versus trying to take that thing apart and chase after tools I might not have in the process.
