Transmission problems, not shifting
1998 3500 HD with 454 gas engine. Rarely shifts out of low gear. When it does, it shifts perfect. I heard about a possible ignition switch problem that could cause this and a speed sensor that could cause it. I have replaced both and the problem still exists. Planning to change out the shift solenoids in the valve body when I get time. Would that be a possible cause, and is there anything else I should look for? I’m also hoping to get a scanner on it asap, but not sure if codes will show up. Until recently, the battery has been out for the past few months, so I don’t think there’s enough run time for the computer to catch any codes yet. Thanks and have a great weekend.
