Default 19 and "a" and ..4...4...codes at night?

Last night 7:45 when I locked up the '03 2500hd, I noticed a code on the dash in the dotted blue lights.
It was, 19, with 2 lil blue dots OVER the 9.
The 19 was flanked on BOTH sides by several lower case a's........"a" .....with 1 lil blue dot over each "a".
Down where the blue P, R, D, 2,3 usually show.

THEN, an hour later my SIL asked me to try and take a photo, which my fone would NOT do
BUT
it had a DIFFERENT code
it had two 4's about 3/4" apart with lil blue dots above each like..........4.........4.........

Does anyone know what these codes are telling me? The truck seems fine.....at this time.
many thanx

Get back to us when you have some real OBD II code and we'll go from there.

sorry henry
I didn't know there were phony codes and REAL codes
my concern is this runs the battery down when sitting for several days. OR that there is something wrong
it is apparently not the latter, which is good to know

Maybe they are codes for the cluster itself? Just guessing.

it's gibberish. Doesn't mean anything other than glitchy electronics.

What Mountain Man Joe said below, ronny_jay. We go by OBD II codes, which you can have read at most major car part stores for free, so unless it is something out of the range of the scanner, you can post it here. Makes things much easier.

pretty good chance there won't be any OBD codes. You can try unplugging the cluster and plugging it back in, but it probably needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Or just live with it.

I agree, MMJ. Cluster is messed up.

The cluster has no self-diagnostics - what you’re seeing is a result of the cluster malfunctioning. The clusters in these trucks are known for having a variety of problems due to solder joints going cold.

If you’re reasonably skilled with a soldering iron, it’s not difficult to open it up and repair the joints, otherwise you can send it out for repair.
