Default 1999 Chevrolet Silverado replacement key won't turn

Hello everyone!
So don't try to laugh to much but I lost my only key for my truck. Went to the chevy dealership and had a new key made but it won't turn at all. Could this be a security issue or is it something else? The key does work for locking the doors m. Any and all help and info would be greatly appreciated.

Take it back to the dealership, something is wrong with the key. Was everything working with the old key?

Yes the old key was working fine. When I got the key made I gave them my vin number and they looked it up in there system to make me a new key.

If the new key won't turn then they must have cut it wrong.

I Will have to try getting a new key made. If it is a different ignition would have have to replace it? Also if I do replace the ignition will I have to reprogram the anti theft?

thank you for all the tips and info!

A good locksmith could make a key to fit the ignition that is in there.

did the old key work in both the doors and ignition? if yes, try smoothing the edges of the new key with a wire wheel.
