Hi Guys,

Please forgive me for my newbie questions but I'm new to the forum.

Several weeks ago my Silverado starting showing signs of a bad fuel pump when my fuel gauge started acting like it was possessed by an evil daemon. I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter. I figured it was a good idea to changed both since it still had the factory original. I'm not sure why this happened but after replacing the two components it wouldn't start. I checked for spark and fuel pressure and all looked good. I let it sit for awhile and later drained the fuel in the fuel rails just for grins and it stated right up. It ran smooth for several days with no issues. Yesterday, I had the bright idea of changing the oil and added engine flush to address a ticking sound. Everything was going well until I tried to start the engine and it wouldn't start. It looked like I was back to the issue I had when I replaced the fuel pump. I decided to change the fuel injection pressure regulator ($80.00) since it seemed like the only remaining item in the fuel delivery path. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. I have spark, fuel and compression and that dang thing will not start.


Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have verified spark, fuel and compression, then the last component is timing. When you said your fuel gauge was possessed, did the new pump resolve that? If not, chances are you have a dirty ground connection and that may be overlapping into your engine starting. If it's not something you've done in awhile, just going through all your grounds is something you can try. Also, checking your fuses couldn't hurt.
