So i bought this truck a year ago it sat for 2 years before i got it. Its a work truck and daily. Put the maintenance off for to long im afraid. Needs ball joints for sure i had the passenger front tire wear uneven. So i went to put it in 4x4 the other day it engaged but made a loud grinding and poping sound on the drivers side. So i put it back into 2 wheel drive and it was fine for about 2 miles then i lost power like i was in neutral. Stoped put it in park and it started grinding shut it off started back it was fine. Now im getting a quite metal on metal sound in 2 wheel. That is gradually getting worse. I drained the differential fluid looks like that is the first time in 200,000 miles thats been done magnet had small amout of tiny metal shavings. The actuator is locking the axels in but sounds horrible on drivers side. Would that the shift solenoid?
