2002 4.8 with fuel issues
I replaced the fuel pump and the truck will not start, its getting fuel but I'm not sure what the psi is. i ordered a fuel pressure gauge and it should be in this week. Replaced with a precision pump from Oriley.
The truck will run with brake cleaner in the intake, so its getting spark. also replace the fuel filter and it is installed the right direction.
I know they had something with replacing the pigtail, and it has been replaced also.

Hello; Fuel pressure gauge is a good idea. I do not know the working fuel PSI but figure ought to be around 45 or more psi. On an older Ford pickup I wound up replacing the fuel pressure regulator. Did the truck sometimes take a while to start after sitting a while?
I will figure you can hear or tell the pump is working.
That it will run on brake cleaner shows spark as you say.
There is a small indicator tool called a NOID light.( my spelling). It plugs into the wire harness which operates the fuel injectors. It lights up if the injector is getting a working signal.
Have you check the fuses/relays for the fuel injection?
Good luck

I feel like it’s gonna turn out to be something stupid lol
the truck sat from November til a few months ago. The owner’s husband passed away and we are trying to get it running to give to their son. The pump is working and pushing fuel through the Schrader valve when the key is on. I believe it’s supposed to be between 45/60. Imma have to check those fuses you mentioned. I think we did but it’s been a while.

a good fuel pressure would be 55-60 with the key on engine off. but im assuming the truck was parked due to the fuel issue to begin with. parts stores will ret out fuel pressure testers also and they should have NOID lights. both may be required to see whats going on. you need to see what pressure youre getting to the rail and if the injectors are even firing. it also could be a fuse, camshaft position sensor or ecm. but thats all guessing unless you test the system.
on a side note these truck also have a "clear flood mode" that is activated if you hold the gas pedal down while trying to crank the engine. so even a faulty TPS that thinks youre holding the throttle down will cause a no start issue.
Just thought of it, but is the security light on after the system does the light test when you first turn the key on?
