Hey all,
I need a key for the center console of my 02 2500 4x4 8.1/Alison. It's says "console" on it and stamped 086. It's specifically for console only. Mine is worn badly, need a duplicate before it's too late. No luck locally. Thnx.

 

Did you try the dealer? I don't know if they still do it, but they used to be able to make a key from the vin number.

 

Yes sir I did. Today I called the 2 dealers local to me. And you're correct on vin key. One said they do door/ign keys via vin for 137.00 per key and they show no key for console, 2nd dealer said yes there was a console key, but it was discontinued I last of 2004 and the blank is no longer avail to them. Thought I'd try a junk yard Saturday. Thanks for the input. Greatly appreciated.

 

There are several vendors on Ebay that sell console keys. This link is one that will also cut it for you from your code.

I did get the keys ordered. The guy says he can make just about any chevy key from the vin. I'll get two keys for 11 bucks. Should get them today.
