I'm working on my 2003 2500hd. It's having all sorts of problems that can be traced back to the bcm. The power before replaced the bcm with one that I have no idea of where it came from. The airbags light is also on and his mechanic was a "shade tree" mechanic so I doubt it was done right vs the cheapest way possible. So it was probably just a clone they found on eBay.

But anyway from searching online I found a few sites that offer replacement bcms, so my question is does anyone have any suggestions on where to go or not to go?

Another question is if this bcm was used to begin with can they just toss it in the truck even with the wrong vin?

 

I’d suggest doublechecking any and all ground straps for corrosion/breakage before throwing money at it. The grounds can have all sorts of effects and it’s the cheapest place to start.
