Default 2003 Silverado LS storage

Good afternoon!

My dad passed away yesterday and I am trying to help my stepmom get his things in order. We have discovered that we are missing the title to his truck. My dad always had a habit of keeping the title and registrations together in his vehicles.

She vaguely remembers him saying that there were two storage spaces in the center console area. I can only open the very top. It is a jump seat as far as I can tell, the center flips up and makes room for a 3rd person.

Try as I may, I can not figure out any other storage other than the top console. Is there anything I might be missing or a latch/trigger I cannot find to open storage in the seat (if there is any.)

Any help anyone could provide would be very appreciated! It would make her life so much easier to not have to go to the DMV for a replacement.

Thanks!
Shannon

Well, the ones I have seen had a small tray like area that opened up with one latch, and a deeper compartment that you opened using a secondary latch, where that top tray stayed closed. Is that what you are talking about? The only other storage is the glove box. If it has a back seat, there are some nooks back there sometimes as well. My 2006 is a standard cab, so I can't comment as much on that.

My condolences on your loss, and I hope you find the title.

That said - please do not continue the practice of keeping the title in a vehicle. That is one of the scarier practices I have ever heard. That makes it easy for a thief to take the car and then reregister it in their name, or claim you sold it to them - all they have to do is forge a signature on the back and go to the tag registration office. The registration or tag receipt is the only thing you are required to have in the vehicle for proof of ownership on traffic stops. NEVER the actual title.

Good luck!

Maybe the pocket on the back of the seat. It would have to be folded but, there is one in the headliner, near the map lights to keep sunglasses. That's where I keep my registration.
