2004 1500 4.3. ac compressor hose fitting LEAK .. help!
i'm at the end of my rope fellas.
i have been fighting with this system leaking all summer long. finally i found all the leaks. the service port leak is fixed. But I can't get the compressor hose to seal to the compressor.
I am probably doing it wrong. I have a bag of seal washers and o rings. my compressor is at the top of the engine, and has metal blocks at the fittings which each screw down to the compressor with 13mm bolts. it's not the older style where the high and low hoses are on the same block and screw down with one bolt only, it's the newer one. denso 10s17f.
when I took the fittings off, The only thing on the end of the hose was a seal washer. I replaced it, both hose fitting seals. it still leaked. So I added an o ring and crushed it between the washer and the compressor. still leaking, and I don't think it's supposed to go together that way anyway. my hoses don't have the ring cut out where the o ring would slide into, so it looks like there's only supposed to be the sealing washer under that fitting.
can someone please explain to me how this is all supposed to go together? is there a trick or something?
thank you. pulling my hair out,

A couple of things might help. One, get some Nylog Blue
( )
and coat the seals. This stuff is magnificent for helping create a vacuum tight seal. Two, the other thing you might want to consider in addition to the Nylog Blue, is to purchase one each of the following seals a red sealing washer (Four Seasons/Factory Air 24356) and a green sealing washer (Four Seasons/Factory Air 24357). Most NAPA stores stock them. They are a bit beefier than the slimline seals that come with the HVAC hoses. Remember to apply the Blue Nylog to these as well.
Good Luck!

thanks i will do that! i should have known, i had the same problem trying to get a schrader valve that wouldn't leak. i ended up with some that have a purple band on them and those finally held, the parts store ones that came with the kit were not up to par
so there's not supposed to be an o ring crammed in there i am guessing! it really doesn't seem right. i guess that seal kit is meant to cover multiple models and has extra parts that my truck doesn't require.

sorry, those washers were not gonna fit
i just went to napa and checked them out. i'm attaching a photo of the type of fittings that are on my compressor as well as a picture of the type and size of seal i have.
i can't find nylog anywhere, i guess i will order it and try it with the stock seals. i have no idea what the torque # is for those fittings, i feel like that could be part of the problem

Are the replacement seals the same thickness as the originals?
Some of these systems have thicker seals at the compressor as compared to the rest of the system. I can’t say for sure that’s what yours should have, but that looks possible to me from your photo.

I know that the red and green seals I suggested are physically thicker than the ones you show, but if the outside diameter is the same as the "recommended ones" and the internal diameter is the same, go ahead and try them. They are thicker for a reason. It's a trick I picked up on another forum.
If you have a commercial refrigeration/HVAC supplier in your community, they should have the Nylog Blue. Don't use the Nylog Red.
