2007 Silverado Classic Rear Brakes Sticking
I have a 2007 Silverado Classic (2 wheel drive) that I've owned since new. It currently has 174k miles.
I've always used the parking brake since new. In the past few years, if I set the brake, sometimes in the morning when I go to use the truck, I put it in gear and it doesn't want to move. I have to give it a bunch of throttle and then finally it breaks free. Over the winter, I was in South Carolina for three months and left the truck in my garage. I'm in Michigan but do have an epoxy floor so not sure how much moisture there was, but I would speculate minimal. For the three months I was gone, I left the parking brake off. When I returned in May, it was stuck as if I had used the parking brake. It took quite a few neutral slams for it to break free and left a nice skid mark on my floor.
This has drum brakes and I've inspected everything I can think of (parking brake cables are rust free and greased annually. Also, when releasing the parking brake from inside the cab, it appears that the cables are retracting as the foot pedal isn't sloppy.
Thanks very much

A couple of thoughts, based on what happened with a neighbors 67 Mustang that sat for a long time, and ended up with all 4 drums frozen to the brake shoes....
Have you inspected the drums themselves, to ensure there is no rust or corrosion? What condition are the shoes in, and could the adjuster need to be backed off? I think if the shoes are too tight to the drum, or if there is any level of corrosion, even with the parking brake off, you could end up with the shoes and drum sticking to each other if the vehicle sits for a while.
I recently redid my 2006 Silverado 1500 rear shoes using Powerstop shoes from Rockauto, and also replaces the front rotors and pads with Powerstop parts as well. So all the brake parts on the 2006 Silverado, which should the same as your 2007 Silverado Classic, is still fresh on my mind. I've been pleased as things are much smoother and quieter than with the crappy shoes and drums I had bought at Autozone just a few thousand miles earlier.
