Default 4L60E Lifespan?

I have a 2003 Silverado with the original engine and transmission. I have around 213,000 miles on it. I have changed the transmission fluid regularly along with filter and installed an external cooler. What is the lifespan of these transmissions? Mine still shifts and performs great, but I’ve heard horror stories.

Well maintained they can get much more than 213,000 miles. As long as yours is running good with no problems, don"t worry about it.

Thanks. Hopefully she’ll keep going for a while.

Mine died at 156k (won't shift into 3rd or 4th) and it was meticulously maintained, babied. My truck is a 2007 Silverado Classic with the 5.3L V8. The most towing I did was twice a year, to haul my ski boat in and out of storage, no more than 80 miles total.

Our 93 Suburban died at about 225k - not too long after we did a transmission flush and should have been doing more frequent fluid changes. Put an Ebay rebuild in and up to 350k now

230k and counting. Since it's been with me I have not changed the fluid, gets checked regularly tho, and is good.

Doesn't get beat on much, but has been hot once since I've had it, hot enough to puke some fluid after dragging our pontoon boat home into a 30mph headwind.

My son drives it now, and honestly compared to the 6speed in my 14, I kinda miss it.
