4Wd buttons do not light up
2000 silverado 2500 Changed push button switch and transfer case motor . Cleaned ground wire and all fuses ok.
whats next BCM? Can it be scanned for fault before buying one?

Somewhere in the switching, there is an actuator solenoid. This is sticking. The rod, inside the electromagnetic coil, is literally frozen. (sorry)
If you can access the rod, you might try synthetic or graphite lube, in order to prevent it from sticking. IME, if you don't use "Pushbutton 4WD"
regularly, say 3 or 4 times a week, it tends to freeze up, as the actuator rod, for some reason, ossifies, from disuse..
If you ever get the chance to change over to a manual 4WD shifter, I would jump on it.

It may be very hard to find. I would say trace the 4WD wiring to the transfer case. Somewhere there is a control, where there should be a manual shifter, more than likely on the top, or side of the transfer case casing, or possibly near the transfer case on the transmission body. Most solenoids (of course, it's built by the lowest bidding contractor) of this type are cylindrical, and about the size of a guitar pickup, In the center of the coil, there is a stainless steel rod, which is frozen.

Thanks for the help. I can locate one other solenoid actuator on the front differential. Had a friend do a code scan and came up with C0309, C0308, and C0327 .
deleted them all and only the C0308 would not go away and it is the front differential actuator. I bought a new one and installed it but still no lights.
So i have a new dash switch, new transfer case motor actuator and new differential actuator.
It seems that only the BCM is left unless anyone has other ideas.
Thanks

Does the 4WD unit work at all ? Is it just the lights which aren't working?
At the dealership, the salesman was making this big deal, about how great pushbutton 4WD is, and a little voice in the back of my head kept going
NAH

The switch does not light up and the truck is in 2 wd h and will not change .
I am doing an extensive check of the wiring at the fuse panel and everywhere else as I saw a utube that showed a mouse had chewed off a wire.
I would stay away from the push button if at all possible. There appears to be at least 4 expensive components to make it work.

Yeah, I'm hanging on to my truck, with the manual shifter, I've looked at a lot of new vehicles, sometimes I feel like my old manual shifter is the last one on the planet.
Do they even make them, anymore?
