Default Best Fuel Pressure Regulator?

2001 Silverado 4.8

Just wondering what someone would recommend for a fuel pressure regulator. I've been on Advance, Autozone, even Amazon and I see a lot of the same issues with wrong parts or loud noises.

I've been having a hard start issue and it's been getting worse lately, also have a lean running condition. I haven't tested the pressure yet, been waiting for it to get warmer, but so far all the signs point to that. I'll know more when I test it, but until I can, I wanted to search out the best regulator so I can get one ordered if I need it.

Test the fuel pressure before you spend your hard earned money. If your fuel pressure regulator is indeed bad, I have had good luck with Stand Motor Products (non T series) and Delphi fuel pressure regulators. Also, BWD (non P series) parts are the same as the Standard Motor Product (non T series) parts - same part, just a different box & once in awhile, color).

Now you have me curious, what is the difference between T/P series on those parts? This is my first time ever working on a regulator, so it's all learning for me at this point.

The SMP T series and BWD P series parts are the "value line" of parts. They normally come with only a 1 year warranty instead of the normal 3+ year warranty. In other words, not their best parts, and likely made by another company. SMP manufactures most of their own parts and are considered to be premium parts (except for the T and P series parts). Now the only difference between SMP and BWD parts is with their ignition coils and the color of the housing. Exterior color may be different but the internals are the same.
