And now it's even more confusing. "genuine" doesn't even mean genuine any more.

GM has been doing this for a few years on some of the parts they sell for "older" vehicles. If GM can't get the various engine management parts (ignition coils, sensors, etc.) from the original supplier, they purchase said parts from various companies including Standard Motor Products, and put them into the GM Genuine or ACDelco labeled boxes.

If I recall correctly, I read about this practice in Standard Motor Products annual report a couple years ago.
