Default Change Battery '04 Siverado

Last time I did this myself. Did NOT go as planned. Apparently now it isn't just a matter of pulling the old battery and dropping in a new one. For everything to work right it needs a procedure.
So somebody, please, help me out here!
Thanks, and Happy New Year!
Chuck

No exotic procedure to it. Un-do negative, un-do positive, un-do tie down. Pull battery, do it all in reverse with your new battery. Just make sure you get your positive and negative on the correct posts.

I could be wrong, but I think that's what I did last time when the problem came up. Maybe the disconnect/connect order was wrong (?). Anyhow, I've been swapping out batteries for upwards of 50 years. I figured the problem came up b/c of new electronics.

Thanks for your reply!

Even that won't even really make any difference, just good habit for safety to prevent risk of shorting anything out. Best of luck

Sorry chem_man! I thought I replied but it doesn't show as Posted. I'm just trying to head off the problems I had will last replacement. As I recall, truck showed several LEDs when I started. All I remember for sure is having to drive over to Mike The Mechanic and have problems corrected. He said something like "You can't just pull the old one and drop in the new." What that meant exactly he didn't say.
BTW, this was a side-post battery.

The next time you need to change the battery, use a Keep Alive Memory device which allows the ECM, TCM, and the other modules to to maintain their memories. I use the following connected to a 12 VDC jumper pack:

Amazon Amazon

Using it prevents lots of problems with HVAC actuators, emission readiness status, etc.

Good Luck!

Good advice! But I'm not in a position to spend $44. Maybe connecting a maintainer, booster (like Beatit) of charger/jumper to the cables would work?
Thanks!

Anything that will keep 12 volts applied during the battery swap will work. You will just need to be more cautious handling the battery cables which will remain hot during the swap. Just out of curiosity, what did your visit to Mike the Mechanic cost you last battery swap?
