Default Engine overheated but now idles too low to drive

Had an event yesterday with my 5.3L, it overheated very quickly then DIC displayed engine overheated followed by alarms etc. Got it towed home checked the oil dipstick oil looks fine. Topped off coolant, went through cooling system--water pump, thermostat, upper and lower rad hoses, purge reservoir hose, and heater hose. All are good. Reset the computer by disconnecting the battery

I have everything connected back now except the upper fan shroud and the air inlet from the air cleaner to the throttle body(is that right term?) but crank engine and it starts but very low idle (<500 RPM) and certainly not enough power to drive.

Anybody have this particular issue before or know what to check for? Thanks for the help.

My truck idles in the 5-700 range. Are you saying it won't idle in gear or it's got no power to move?

The issue after all that was my MAF sensor. Sensor between air filter and throttle body. It was just a coincident it happened at the same time as my overheating issues. Engine is running perfectly now. Thanks for the responses.
