Default Front and rear differential swap

Quick question here.

i just replaced the front differential and rear axle in my 2001 Silverado. They were used and supposedly a matched set.

I have all four wheels (tires and wheels removed) off the ground, and when the truck is in 4wd and in drive, the front wheels turn almost twice as fast as the rears.

I don’t think this is right and I don’t want to damage anything by driving it like this.

Other than having mismatched gears, any thoughts?

thanks

pete

i did that, and they both (front and rear) slow down and stop. I’m just wondering if the front having less “free wheel” drag on it, runs faster, but with an even load won’t.

Im not sure, I’ll put the wheels back on and try it on the ground (cautiously). I’m just used to solid axles and geared transfer cases where the two are mechanically tied.

Thanks for the input.
