Default Full Restoration Decision

I was thinking about doing a full frame to engine to body, basically to restore everything on my 2003 Silverado 1500. Is it worth it? How much do you think it might cost? If you’ve had a restoration, how much did it cost for you? I just really love the truck and how it drives and looks.

It would cost much more than the truck is worth. The cost would depend on the condition of the truck.

just paint for the body would be $5000 to $6000 I bet. If you want a body and engine off the frame rotisserie...forget it...you could buy a new truck. My boss had his 1970 cuda done this way and with a 600hp engine upgrade...he also has a hellcat challenger...he's into double the hellcat price to restore the cuda.

cheap way to do it would be to paint the body and have the frame sprayed with black sound deadener rocker guard product. power wash off the motor and replace any leaking gaskets.

I can't see a 2003 needing a full body off restoration, if you have patience and are willing to learn you can paint it yourself for around $500. I would just rattlecan the frame black and replace parts as needed. I've never seen a motor that doesn't leak somewhere but that doesn't mean you can't keep it clean. Have fun either way. TCPGlobal.com has 1 and 2 stage kits for around $200 and the paint is descent of you prep your surfaces right. Have fun either way. Dont expect the value to go up alot on a later model vehicle though.
