how to clean side moulding on 2002 silverado
I have seen Trucks where the owner has painted the plastic Black and removed the Chrome strip. I have used "Back to Black". It works for a couple of weeks. I am also looking for a solution to this problem. I would like to remove the side Molding altogether. My 02 was My Dad's truck... I know he had the "Top" of the truck repainted because it started to "fade"... The Paint Shop used the moldings as the cut-off/start line... If I remove them it might be too noticed too much. I would say if you need them cleaned up maybe some strong cleaner like "Awesome Cleaner" then follow up with "Back to Black" made by Mothers. Heck My neighbor used peanut butter on his Ford Ranger Trim... It looked good for a couple of months and his dog followed the truck everywhere!!
Good Luck, Let us Know what you do...

I seen a guy on You Tube who removed fading/yellow coloring with finger nail polish. He taped around the molding to keep the remover away from painted areas. Hey, has anyone tried to replace the chrome inserts on the side molding? I have a 2007 Silverado Classic extended cab and need to replace the chrome insert only. Can it be done without damaging the original molding while removing the old chrome? Or do you need an all new molding piece with chrome? Thanks for any advice.
