I need to check the fuel pressure on my 2000 4.3
I've never done this but I have seen some videos but it seems my Schrader Valve is not the same as others
I see a black plastic line coming up with a GREEN CAP on it like it is where the fuel pressure gauge is to connect to.
Any one out there with a 4.3 2000 that can look at theirs and verify.
I know it is NOT the A/C lines Hi and Lo pressure.......I'm just baffled why the green cap and I thought it would be a metal line.

The green cap is for testing the EVAP system, not the fuel injection test port.
The fuel injection test port on a 4.3 L V6 engine is located on the drivers side of the distributor under the spark plug wires. NOTE: this is based on a picture I saw in my Haynes Manual.. FYI, I have the 5.3 L V8 in our Silverado.
The Key On Engine Off fuel pressure spec for the 2000 4.3 L V6 is 60 - 66 psi.
Good Luck!

I would gather from your question that you are not that familiar with working on fuel systems. It would be a much better move to leave that kind of work to someone with some experience with working with fuel systems , because ,, you could get into trouble there not knowing what you are doing.Gasoline these days is not the old gas we were accustomed to, and being aware of the danger of leaking fuel plus the danger of possibly getting it all over you, , you should be aware contact with gasoline on your skin is not good.. As you might have noticed in many videos , hand protection , gloves , are used.
There is good reason for that.

I am familiar with fuel systems.........and understand the concepts and all. All I want to do is determine if my hard starting issue is from a wek fuel pump
which seems to be an inherent trait of this model.
To attach a fuel pressure gauge to a Schraeder valve is not above my pay grade........I just had a difficult time finding the location........
Once connected I have watched enough videos to see how to test the pressure to see if there is bleed off. It fires right up, initially but the next start is long cranking.
With Chem Mans help now I know where to look and I have checked fuel pressure on many old cars where the fuel pump only put out 6 maybe 7 psi.
I appreciate the words of caution Hanky. I have a pretty good idea when I run out of talent...............I just needed directions.........thanks to both for their replies.

Maybe THIS is why I can't find the Schrader Valve.............
Just copied this from here:Testing the fuel pump's fuel pressure may seem impossible on the 4.3L, 5.0L, or 5.7L TBI equipped pickup or SUV since they don't come equipped with a Schrader valve.

Here is an image of the fuel injector assembly for the 2000 Silverado with the 4.3 V6. It shows a Schrader valve near the block where the fuel lines attach to. By the way, the image came from an online Chilton's manual.
I wonder which source of information is actually correct?

I got a headache so I decided to tackle this fuel pressure issue. Maybe I should just take a nap let my wife figure it out. She's good at figuring things out...except ME.
Thanks for the IMAGE.

I was chasing down a misfire, and happened to find myself down to the heads on my 4.3L last week. The fuel schrader valve was located on driver side (Your right hand side if standing in front of trucks front bumper, and facing towards the trucks rear bumper). The easiest way to locate would be to find where the fuel lines attach to the fuel metering body (top of upper intake manifold just in front 12 pin electrical plug for the spider body, "it will be the two stainless 3/8" lines) and once these lines are located you can follow them back towards the firewall until you hit the schrader valve. I can easily understand not be able to locate it as quickly as you might of thought as the valve is orientated in a congested area of the intake and hidden by Evap, Wiring, And A/C systems.
The valve is going to be tucked under a wiring harness more than likely

Well I've been remiss posting here......I moved over to a more active forum to find some replies.
Yes after digging and cutting straps holding bundles I was eventually able to locate the valve,
GM must have used the seek and maybe you'll find system for some of the build on these trucks.
My fuel pump was the culprit an I have since then put in a new Delphi unit.....
The unit I removed LOOKED like the OEM unit. 140K on it........I hope I can get through half of that.
Thank you for your kind reply.
