go to wikipedia for silverado and find the transmission model number. Then go to the article for that transmission model. Look under "applications" and it will tell you which vehicles had it.
Chances are it's a 4L60e, one of the most common transmissions on the road. Shared between all light duty GM trucks, vans and RWD SUV's. I'm pretty sure you can only use one out of a 2WD vehicle.

Are you installing it yourself?

Yes but only if I'm not able to rebuild the one I just took out.
