Default Just bought Silverado!!!

Hi I am new this site. “ newbie “ I want to tell you what happened, last week, I drove to Customer on business trip and I saw chevy Silverado on road side. I turned around and taken picture of truck and phone # and price. I don’t have time to look around and look under of truck. I went to Customer to finishing the job then I went back to truck and of course need clean up inside and dashboard and headline look so prefect. Then went to home and I talked with my dad and dad want to see it . I asked him , want to see it. He said yes go ahead so we went head . We looked under of truck and look inside by window and we called owner and no answer so I asked dad, what do you think? He liked it. So we went to home and I called owner and leave message. He returned my calling. I asked him few questions and made an appt to see truck with owner on sat at 8:00 am. He warned me that someone interested. I said ok. I called dad and I asked him , want to join with me this sat to look at it. Last sat morning, my wife, dad and I went to see truck and owner. He seem like nice guy. My wife and I drove it and ride good and noticed that steering seem odd. But anyway, it was nice ride. My dad and owner talked about truck. I don’t know what they talked about. Anyway, my wife and I talked with owner “ money talk” and he accepted my offer. It was 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 with short bed. He want my phone #. I did give him my phone #. My dad told him to remove for sale sign on windshield and move truck to other place. So people will know that truck is sold. Owner want us to meet him on Monday at 5:00 pm which was last Monday. Last Monday, I was worried sick, I was afraid that he sold to somebody. I was worked in my office. At 4:00 pm , owner called me and told me that he forgot to tell me that truck title is salvage title. I was so wrecked so bad. My wife woke up at 4:00 pm. She work third shift. I told my wife about title. Truck is salvage title and I told him, what wrong with truck. He said that had rifting right side wrecked. I told him, need to down the price and need to see truck again. At 5:00 we went to see truck and to see if any welding the frame or anything. I don’t see any. I don’t understand why salvage. My wife was soooo upset and still want it so bad. I taken risk and gamble to buy it. We decided to buy and when I saw title and said, salvage rebuild. I was so anxiety. Then brought it home and this morning, I looked under truck and careful and slow to looked frame and front end. Seem like everything looks so good. Oh, mileage is 209,000 mileages . My dad said that motor sound so good. I am sorry I talking to much. And excited too but little bit nervous. I hope y’all will help me with good positive and suppose me. Now my questions is, I don’t know what brand name of oil and regular oil or synthetic oil to use. I think y’all will says regular oil due to mileage to high and I found manual book in glove compartment and read. I don’t know when last time owner changed oil and manual said that when time for change oil and will light on to warning time to change oil. How will I know if working or not? And also, I am sure that owner didn’t read manual. Cabin filter will be very very nasty. When I change cabin filter, I will take picture and post this site hahaha. I will go to dmv to get tag next week. I don’t have time this week and my son will get married this Sunday on nov 5th.
I think I can stop by now. Y’all have a good night

Well that is certainly alot to take in!

As for engine oil, I'm still using conventional oil vs synthetic, but it's a matter of personal opinion and how much cash you got in your wallet.

Is it 2wd or 4wd?
Which engine?
Why does it have a salvage title?

The steering seeming odd kinda worries me, but it may be time for the front end to be re-done, idler arm, pitman, tie-rods etc...

congrats on your purchase!

Default Steering

yes it is 2 wheel and engine: 5.3 liter. Why salvage title? Said that, right side fender wrecked. Next week, I will go to specialist front end and alignment to see what they says. Hope nothing wrong. Cross finger

For what it's worth: I have a 99 Silverado 3 door with the 5.3 L engine and just over 239,000 miles on it. I use Amzoil and have since I bought it 5 years ago. It's a great engine and starts at -20 here in Sunny Warm MN. It's a 4 wheel drive which works great. Most everything still works in it as intended with some very minor exceptions. During winter the PRND12 and Odometer lights don't always want to come on until I hit a bump and the fuel gauge doesn't always work until I hit a bump. And the old windows don't always want to go up or down in the winter so I just leave them closed. But it doesn't use any oil or leak. It's old but still runs too good to even think about getting something else/newer. It's also been to FL two times and ran great.
Just my 2 cents...
