A knocking sound when going into right curves
Hi all, new to the forum, just recently bought a 06 Silverado 4x4 that has around 155k miles. I just noticed that there is a knocking sound when I go through right curves. The sound isn't there when I slow down to make a complete right turn, only when I'm going into curves at driving speed. Anyone out there have any ideas as to what it might be? Thanks in advance.
Doesn't match speed. Knocks going into curves say 30mph - 45 mph, at about 1/4 turn of the stearing wheel. Though there is not a knock when slowing down to make a complete turn and no knock when going left.
hmm. that could be the CV joint, or stablizer bar. But really it could be bushings on any of the suspension components. Maybe even a ball joint. You'll have to do more investigating.
Trying raising up the front of the vehicle. Then take a long 2x4 or steel pipe, slide it under a wheel and lever it up and down. Maybe get a helper to listen. See if you can reproduce the sound that way.
