First verify you have battery voltage on the pink wire with the key on. Also verify there’s a good ground on the black/white wire (not to be confused with the plain black wire as that’s for the IAT circuit).

If the power and ground feeds to the MAF are good, the sensor may need to be replaced, but a P0101 can also set due to vacuum leaks, so I’d recommend smoke testing the intake first if you suspect this could be an issue.

Thnx! I'll look into these suggestions this weekend.
Smoke test? Not sure how, but I'm sure I can search up how to. Thank you for your info Mr. Gumby sir.

Smoke testing is done using a tank of nitrogen and a chemical that reacts with the nitrogen to produce smoke - it’s not much different than a fog machine. Its primary use in auto repair is to look for leaks in the EVAP system, but it can also be used for checking the intake and exhaust for leaks as well.

There’s home kits available for +/- $50 online, but if this is the only time you’ll do it, most independent shops would probably perform the test for about the same cost.

I bought and used CRC MAF /TB cleaner. Have about 200 miles on it and no codes.

Also, I bought Armor All Fresh fx and treated everything soft inside cab 3 times, used it all up, smelling better. Then I bought Fresh fx bomb and set it off with AC running on high for 20 minutes, then let sit for a day. To me, the cig smell is gone or covered up well. Been 8 days and still ok. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for all the help, this site has been great.

Default Quick update and .... Questions

Truck has been great! Thnx to you all and this forum.
The cig smell still gone thanks to the Fresh fx bomb. No more codes. The CD player and tape deck messing up again, but I think it's from setting off 2 bombs and I just ain't got around to cleaning again.

NOW more questions.
On my dash, near front edge center is a small black round probe thing sticking up. Is this for temp sensor or compass or what?

On the drivers side of overhead console towards front is a black angled plastic thing that I'm thinking is a mic for calling onstar or hands free talking???

On top of the roof is a very short black stub, sticking up maybe 1.5 inches. Is this GPS? I see a black fin looking deal on some truck roofs, perhaps fin is broke off leaving the stub?

The material on headliner is sagging in places. I watched on YouTube how a material cement can be sprayed up through material using a syringe needle then just pat the material up into place. Anyone try this or know of a way to fix the sagging? I don't want to use those funky pig tail pins on it.
I still have no pictures. But I did add deezee black diamond plate and tie downs to top bed edges and tailgate. I like it.

Many many thanks.
Eric

The round probe in the dash is a select/reset button for the trip odometer. I can’t recall if you push it or turn it to select the odometer, but you press and hold it to reset.

The microphone is for on star and/or hands free talking.

The stub on top of the cab is an antenna for the hands free talking system.

I’m not sure about repairing the headliner. There’s plenty of methods for doing so, but my experience has been that once the liner starts separating, any attempt to fix it is temporary. I have heard of people successfully re-adhering them by removing the headliner completely from the vehicle so you’re not fighting gravity and using glue specifically for fabrics.

Thnx.
I know about the button for trip reset. The deal I'm asking about sticks up out of the top surface in the center of the dash. Looks like a sensor of some sort.
Fixing the headliner is going to be trial and error, probably more error on my part. Gravity is definitely going to be against me lol. Thanks for your reply.
