Default New to Chevys-advice please!

Hi, I'm thinking about doing something I never do and buying a Chevy pickup without researching it to death. It's a 2006 crewcab 2500 HD with the 6.0L gas engine. It has 139K miles. I know very little about the different Chevy engines, so is this a good engine? Is there anything else I should consider about this model year before taking the plunge?

It's a work truck with very few bells and whistles, which I think is cool. I plan to tastefully upgrade it and carry my mountain bikes around with it. The dealer is asking way too much for it and the price is firm at $12K, but that's my budget.

I also want to buy a travel trailer (bumper pull), prob around 20-25 feet long. Will this truck manageably pull a trailer of that size?

Whaddya think? Thanks in advance for your expertise!

The 6.0 is okay from what I have read, but the 6.2 seems to be the favored motor. I couldn't tell you for sure as I have not worked on either one.

If you pull a trailer of that size make sure you take wonderful care of your transmission, that will be most important. Do some research on the price. I saved 3-4 K on my 15' Malibu by traveling 90 miles to buy it.
