New K3500 problems????
2000 K3500, 7.4L, Auto, dually.
Friend and I just picked it up.
His 1994 just needed way to much work to get it going again.
Got a good deal. Less than 19000mi on it.
Original miles. It was checked with the DMV.
I drove it to my house that is about 40 mi away. Mostly highway.
Good driving power. Good passing power.
So my job is to check it out and fix a few problems.
First is a slight miss at idle, and "I think" low on low end power.
Found the pressure regulator is bad.
Waiting for parts.
Compression is all good.
Haven't checked the injectors yet.
From the looks of it, someone has been in there before.
New cap, rotor, wires.
I just hope they didn't move the distributor.
A few of the plastic alignment pins on the plenum were smashed.
Felpro gasket.
Old truck TB injection so much easier to work on.
It felt like it had more low end power than this one.
But the engine was missing, and the regulator was bad, so hopping this one is better.
Removed the grill and bumper to fix some rust.
Every 3500 I've seen has rust in the same place.
The passenger frame at the bumper mount.
Common problem????
I also noticed that the A/C fan was never plugged in.
It still have the black tape around the male terminal.
Need to check the A/C later.
Also the front brake line has been replaced.
I've had to replace many of them.
Poor location?????
Noticed the peddle felt a little soft.
Good stopping power though.
Going to try and bleed it.
Maybe flush it out.
Truck has been sitting a long time.
Paint on hood and roof faded and peeling.
Emblems melted from the sun.
Had to lube the drivers seat tracks. Seat wouldn't go back all the way.
It was good for me, but didn't fit my friend.
To tall.
Other that that, it's in great condition.
I'm happy with it.
Anyone else have one??????
Any problems I should be watching out for?????
We paid $4000 for it.
