Orifice tube location

I noticed the orifice tube is located at the outlet of the condenser.
Gas has to travel all the way from the front to the rear of the engine bay.
Gas has to travel over 4 feet before getting to the evaporator.
Wonder why they did that????
Normally it would be as close to the Evaporator as possible.
When it goes through the orifice tube, it goes to gas and starts to cool.
Seems a waste to cool over 4 feet of exposed tubing.
Has anyone tried to relocate it to closer to the evaporator????
