if the message comes on...codes will be present. find out what codes have set. a code reader cannot access chassis codes. a full function scan tool is required that can access the transfer case control module.

 

Do I need to go to a dealer for this?

 

any repair shop that does diagnostics will have the required scan tool.

 

I noticed today that it would display service 4wd and then I couldn't switch it out of 2wd. If I turned the key off and on again then it would change. Then I drive for an hour and it works fine. any ideas?
