Silverado 2004 transfer case stuck in neutral

  • Try holding 2 wheel drive button while you turn the key on. If that doesn't work, take the motor off and turn with a pair of pliers. Plug the motor on while off and try to activate with the buttons. You will need the motor cog in line with the shaft, for it to be able to go back on. Change the transfer case fluid. Auto-trak 2. If all else fails, you might contact here to see if they have a kit for your truck.

If you can get it into 4 high, you can add a toggle to disengage the front wheels.

This video demonstrates how the actuator for the front wheels work.
