I have a Silverado 1500 -2005 and try to increase tow weight here in sweden which seems incredibly difficult!


The car is imported from the US in 2008, and then got a tow weight at 5,000lbs but I want to increase it to 7,700lbs !


Sweden has incredibly worthless rules when it comes to tow weight...


I try to hunt a certificate that the car can handle 7,700lbs which seems impossible to get hold of ... there are many similar cars registered here in sweden who can tow 7,700lbs but not mine..


I need a new towbar with a certificate which can be purchased here at home, but it also requires an certificate that the car can handle it. Have tried to reach GM to ask them without a reply .. hope someone here can help me!

M30: TRANSMISSION, AUTO 4 SPD, HMD, 4L60E, ELECTRONIC


VR4: TRAILER HITCH, WEIGHT DISTRIBUTING PLATFORM

this does not tell me so much, but if i check up my friend's car it is exact same on his truck though he has more registered tow weight..

norm your max tongue wt is 10% of the max trailer wt.. idk why your max trailer wt is only 5k, thats not even enough for a class 3 hitch. (would it stop me in the states? no lol.)

something you might be able to do over there that we can do is, get a spring shop to cert your truck or maybe even tell you what you can do to increase your G.V.C.R. but with a max trailer weight being only 5000 lbs 7k might be pushing it as i think a ¾ ton is around there
