Winter starting, tips and false OBDII code
The 2001 doesn't have "first crank start" electronics like newer vehicles (thank goodness!)
The way you start a "older" car or snowblower or bike is to crank it a few (ie, 2-3 revs then key off not 5 which is called "over-cranking") (summer or winter but especially winter), let it sit for 5 seconds, crank it a few. A car will very likely start on the first rev if you do this and it is easier on both starter and battery.
PROBLEM: sometimes the "old brain" throws P0440 and some ABS code (can't remember) at < 500 RPM freeze framed. it expects "cold start" and if that already occurred and was shut off, the computer falsely indicates trouble codes.
The answer is: the brain is stupid. Reset the codes if they occur during multiple key-on key-off. Use a cheap OBDII reset tool is required if you "know how to start engines correctly".
(yes I'm a mechanic i'm aware of fuel pressure and vaccum tightness issues. older cars can crank say 5+ times in some conditions even if those are newly replaced, and reguarless are harder start in winter than "new cars". the new cars of course come with a huge penalty of $$$$$ complexity and replacement part cost)

can't say i ever seen or heard of that. My 2000 starts as good as any 2021.
what first start crank electronics are you referring to?
p0440 is a 2 trip code. no obd monitor run during start up so i'm not following. please clarify.
ABs dtc can set if battery voltage is to low are start up
