My Dealership ate roughly $500, so the bill is $6500 even and it has a 3 yr warranty. But they stated GM is not willing to do anything. I love my truck however I think in 2 years and 11 months I may be on a Toyota Lot looking at Tundras. Sad I wish I had my '97 Silverado back. That truck was a rock, this truck is not.

Don't take the dealership's word for it. They cannot talk for GM. They only want you to pay for the truck and not leave it there waiting for a claim. I had a claim with GM when I turned my truck in for repair. When they, the dealership, told me my truck was ready, I went the next day to get it. I got to the dealership and spoke with a service rep who went to the back and spoke to the service manager (who GM said would be dealership contact for the claim). I was told that my claim was denied but I didn't receive a response from GM (I had received an email from GM on the day I made the claim with a case number and the contact for the dealership). I paid and they hurried me out there. I mean, they got my truck, brought it to the service garage (usually they walk you to your vehicle), gave me the keys and gave me the heave-ho. A week later, after talking to my buddies about the truck, they asked me if I received a response from GM. Being that I didn't, I contacted GM and was told that the claim was not denied. That just let me know that the dealership wanted to get paid. That's why I said to not authorize the work before you talk with GM. That was one of the questions asked by GM - If I authorized the work before they had a chance to talk with the dealership. I take that GM does not want you to do it.

Yeah. Chevy Trucks are no more like a rock. They're more like sand on the beach in hurricane season. You don't know when disaster strikes, but when it does, it will be devastating. Lol. I always thought about the Super Bowl ad of the end of the world and Chevy Truck is still running. Now I know that's it's nothing but special effects. Not to get off subject, but I was thinking about getting a new Tahoe or Suburban until I drove them. I heard this strange vibration in the cabin of the vehicle like someone left one of the the windows down in the SUV but all the windows were up. I test drove three of them and got the same result out of all of them. The dealer tried to make excuses such as no one has never said anything about a vibration in the cabin. Two weeks later I read an article that the owners of these vehicles are complaining with NHTSA saying that the vibrations are making them sick. I went with my instincts on that one. Found out the problems are in Cadillac Escalade vehicles too. Guess I won't be thinking about a GM vehicle in the future. Can't risk paying a lot and getting little. Escalade in two years is scrapped. Another brand is in my future.

2010 AFM GONE TODAY. I sold it. Did not even wave goodbye.
All in all I beat that truck. Living on ranch, mud.
Bent 5 rims in 59 months.
6 tires ruined. It was a mess.

But now some poor person will buy it used and even though all the engine has been repaired as of today. It is carbonized the spark plugs. It is going to blow.

I traded it in. Toyota Tundra 5.7

Well, looks like GM will be of no help. Full engine replacement at $6k recommended after the findings weren't good. Seem fair or should I look for a used one?

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. It's bad that GM is allowing this to happen. I have heard that engines cost about that much for this vehicle. Maybe you can get a used one but you won't get a warranty with it. The one at GM comes with three years and 100,000. Here is a link for a 200 rebate. http://m.mycertifiedservice.com/deals-values-rebates/engine-transmission-rebate.html I know it's not a lot but with prices like that, you need every penny you can get. Also talk with the dealership to see if they can give you a discount off labor. My dealership gave me 300.00.

Much appreciate the rebate FYI. As for discounts I actually get $500 off labor, $300 off misc parts, and $800 off the engine. I'll let you know where this ends up if the actual $6180 includes tax out the door. Bummer no matter especially with just over 100,000 miles on the ride.

As I knock on wood to tell you my story. I have had all the same problems with my 2011 5.3I. burning oil, lots of plugs fowling, oil pressure sensor. I turned off AFM with a programmer and the plugs are not flowing anymore (Knock on wood) and the oil stays at the same level (knock on wood). I have babied her to 179,000 miles.

At what miles did you turn off the AFM?
