Help - My cooland line burst last night and I smelled the fluid buring, the speedometer went to Zero and no longer shift to move in any gear.

Fixed line, added transmission fluid and now no Drive, but 1 and 2 and reverse no Drive or 3.

I know if I tow it to have transmission looke at it will be another $1500 rebuild ( 2 years ago rebuilt) - 125,000

Any way someone can tell me about fuses or VSS or TMC to try first before I tow it off? It reuns in first and 2 so I am hoping I did not blow it up.

Too tired and old and broke - widow so they lick their lips if they see me coming!!! My windows roll down and my radio has no speakers so I am just trying to fix what is broken, not fancy girl. I also have a clydesdale so I am use to challenges!

 

was the transmission pan ever dropped for servicing? It might just need a new filter.

 

I bought a used 2009 in 2013 from a dealer for $12k with 36k miles single cab 8 foot box. As a widow i neglected to ask the size of the engine assumingc4 wheel drive was v8 and i heard v8 in the conversation when throwing in step rails and bedliner.xaboutc6 months go buy and i smellxsomething burning and had it towed off thruway to real trucker garage who lifted it to show me pink bubble gum around transmission pan. He said someone had rebuilt transmission or I have been ripped off from day one. Thank you very much. Elizabeth this caused leak. He fixed it under warrabty and odealer i bought it from paid and then i remembered that the dealer said a contrractor had gmbought it forctowing and that is why i had a hill bfake towing lever added inside cab. Probably at that time i should have screamed at dealer but it was now fixed. Then my new friend said I should plow with it so I put on a plow and he split the driveway money which covered the cost of plow and everything the very irst year so Theron a profit. Then that summer the band broke in transmission and I had it professionally rebuilt which was $1500 and broke even from plowing which he said I should not have done with v6. Now it's 2 years later and the coolant line burst while I was driving and the temp went to 250 as I pulled over. Added transmission fluid and towed home and temp dropped back to 225. Line was repaired and now no drive or 3rd on the automatic butc1 2 and r works. I am now at a lose so should I have it flushed and new filter as to drive 8 miles in 2 would be damaging more? I know rowing it to back to transmission shop is a death toll fir another rebuild and not till after Christmas. I wanted to know if any chance it's a ycm or vss or bad pump to try and trouble shoot smaller stuff first . I can not buy another vehicle so I need advice. How long should a shop guarantee a rebuild? If I can get 2 more years I will be fine then. Also the speedometer cable bottomed to zero. I may have multiple issues but I honestly need your advice here .
