2010 Chevy 2500 LT Electrical Nightmare
I have a 2010 Chevy 2500 LT and I have a multitude of electronic problems. The radio volume raises itself as soon as its turned on. Sometimes it won't do that but most of the time it will. The radio stations change themselves. Again sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't. The cruze control doesn't work. The switch lights up but won't active. When the truck is put on accessory, the truck will start and the brakes will read applied. The dome light doesn't turn on. I'm sure there's more that I'm not aware of yet. Ok here's what I've done so far about it. I've changed the radio to another stock radio and had the dealership sync it up, and it was doing the same stuff again. They ran a diagnostic and they came to the conclusion that it was a faulty radio so they ordered a new radio and hooked it up and it still has the same issues. I have had a relay switch replaced and the selector replaced to try to fix the cruise control and that hasn't helped. I've added a secondary ground wire in hopes that that will solve all these problems. I've replaced the Fuze block and that didn't help. Any ideas. I'm at a loss and getting bled dry right now. Any help would be appreciated
From the symptoms you've explained, my first guess (and just a guess) would be a harness or connector issue (either corrosion or trapped/chafing) and causing multiple shorts between circuits. Location wise in the steering column or drivers side of the I/P harness somewhere.
If you have steering wheel volume controls, that circuit is what I would expect to have an issue - telling the radio to keep turning up the volume. I would be more concerned if the ignition switch is not working correctly - but again in a similar area, and potentially related.
Best bet is to pick one consistent issue, and diagnose that circuit only. It's easy to get bogged down with multiple problems.
