2011 Silverado intermittent starting problem
Hello. My 2011 Silverado starting problem has been becoming more frequent/ I just purchased the truck a couple months ago. Intermittently will not start. Turn key on and everything powers up like its supposed to. Turn key to start and its like theres no starter attached to the cable. No click, no nothing. Tried every sequence I can think of. Foot on brake, put in neutral, lock doors, wiggle key. Will not start using factory remote start while this is occurring either. Eventually after several attempts it will start. Doesn't do this every time and doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold. Any help would be appreciated. Have also had dealership cut and program a new key with no luck. They did find an aftermarket alarm system that they said could be the problem. I removed it and nothing changed. Again, all dash lights come on, radio and everything else works normal when this happens.
Had the starter tested yet? Your description is a common one for a failing starter motor. Redneck check - next time it happens, have an assistant hold key in start position and rap the starter with a hammer. If it wakes up, time to replace.
And BTW a starter can still test "good" and be the culprit
