Default 2013 Silverado Check Engine light on and off - possible cause?

Hello,

I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado with close to 130,000 miles on it. For a number of months now, I'm noticing that the check engine light will come on for a few days, and then it'll turn off for a while. This cycle repeats itself. When I attached a OCD code reader to it, I'm seeing the following codes:

P015B - O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Lean to Rich Bank 1 Sensor 1
P015D - O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Lean to Rich Bank 2 Sensor 2
P0521 - Engine Oil Pressure Sensor / Switch Range / Performance

I've been trying to research the potential issue. Lately I've been thinking that the driver side valve cover/PCV valve would need to be replaced. Is that potentially it, or is there something else involved?

Thanks!

Default Re: 2013 Silverado check engine light

You have distinct O2 sensor codes Bank 1 sensor 1 is the Left side UPstream sensor
And Bank 2 sensor 2 is the Right bank DOWNstream sensor .
Replace both of them . They are nearing a failure mode that will turn the light on full time .
As for the Oil pressure sending unit code . This a Long time known issue with GM engines
Replace this sensor AND the screen under it .
Then clear your codes and test drive it .
Those codes should Not return for a while .

Default Thanks for the info

Hmm...I did have the Oil Pressure sending unit replaced a number of months back (the pressure went to 0 on me at that time). I guess maybe that screen wasn't as cleared as originally thought?

I'll see about getting those O2 sensors replaced. I wasn't sure if it was simply that, or possibly a symptom of something else.

I was incorrect in my sensor reporting. The second error is from Bank 2 senor 1, not sensor 2.

Not an issue simply replace both UPstream sensors then . Personally I recommend use of OEM sensors because they are engineered and Manufactured to function like when the truck was new . I have on countless occasions seen where people have repeated failures because they use the aftermarket Clone sensors to save aa few bucks , And this is up to you , If you like crawling under there and replacing those sensors then by all means use those cheap ones , Just keep adding up the part and time costs then see which way was cheaper …..
You do not need to buy them from the Dealer either .
All you need is the OEM p/n that fits your truck’s application . Then you can use that p/n to search for a suitable replacement . I use Rockauto for most of my parts but not all . Sometimes Autozone or Advance will have a better price . And once in a great while O Reiley’s will be the better buy .
A/C delco part numbers are usually similar to the 7or 8 Digit GM p/n and ARE recommended alternative replacement parts for GM vehicles .
