Annoying rattle/vibration
Hello every one first off I appreciate any input in advance. I have a 2009 Silverado Lt 4WD. I’ve been experiencing an annoying rattle that sounds like my dash is loose on driver side but all the cheap plastic components are tight. It makes the noise a good bit at low speeds like going through a parking lot at 10 MPH or so. Can hear it a tiny bit going down the road and when I’m stopping at red lights the last part of the stop the rattle gets loud with a bit of vibration, I would think it’s coming from the front end but when stopping at lights it seems like the vibration is in the whole truck. I jacked it up and did all the hand on wiggling didn’t find much play. My CV axle boot is beginning to leak but still no play yet. I’ve experienced and changed them and it doesn’t seem like it would be that. I’ve experienced loose control arms after alignments and having to tighten them but that was more of a hard clunk noise. Don’t have much experience with shocks and struts but made sure those were at least tight. I have a tiny bit of play on my outer tie rods but I replaced them last year and they could be a lot worse, same with sway bar links. A shop told me I need a rack and pinion but I wouldn’t think that would cause a rattle, I could be wrong. Not sure what it is but under the hood there’s a bar with a boot on drivers side coming from steering wheel area that looks like it goes down near power steering area or something but it has some play(if anyone knows what the name of that is I’d appreciate it) the noise doesn’t sound like metal on metal it’s more of a plastic sound or a speaker going bad but the vibrations make me think it’s more serious. Sorry for the long post, just a kid who likes to work on his own stuff and I tried to do my best with information. Thanks again for any input
