Default Anti Theft System/ Security System Will Not Turn On Or Activate

I have a 2009 Chevy Silverado LS 1500 and the security light only illuminates for the first 5 seconds after turning all accessory power on. I tried looking through the owners manual to test it. I rolled down the driver window, shut off the truck, locked the truck, reached inside and pulled the thing that goes up and down when you unlock and lock the truck, and opened the door. And nothing happend. I also noticed that my panic feature on my truck is not functioning correctly either. When I push the panic button it makes a half soft chirp with the horn 3 times and then it stops. I’m lost as to what’s wrong, I tested the anti theft system fuse and the fuse is not the problem.

Did you change the battery in the fob?

No I wouldn’t of thought that had anything to do with it because it locks and unlocks just fine with the fob. Do you suggest I try that?

It's one thing to eliminate, and cheap.

are you sure your truck is built with content theft deterrent? all trucks come with an immobilizer that prevents starting of the vehicle but my 2000 did not come with content theft.

some systems (maybe not your generation) the system can only be armed with the lock button on the fob.
