Went to replace my pcv valce thinking it would fix my mystery oil loss.....but it doesnt look like the pcv comes out the cover. 2012 silverado lt. Crew cab. 5.3L. 133k miles. 4x4 z71
.........that sucks...was hoping for an easy swap to see if thats causing the oil to "disappear". Got an oil change and they said there was barely any oil on the stick....no leaks....no blue smoke....weird
Ive tried looking it up to. Only thing i could find is that the pcv valve was built into the cover....and had to replace the whole thing. It would be really dumb if thats what they intended for us to do when the valve goes bad

It makes them more $$$ when it goes for repairs. What was wrong with the old PCV valve that could be changed in a minute? Hope I don't have to fool with my 2015 Malibu 2.5 throttle body. Its right next to the firewall, VERY hard to get to.
when the pcv sytem is blocked or overcome by excessive blowby gases the air filter will get oil pushed into it. If you don't have that condition, the pcv system is probably fine. if you think you have an oil consumption problem...
-are you seeing blue smoke out the exhaust ...anytime or on hard acceleration ?
-do the spark plugs have ash deposits?
-any difference in dry and wet compression tests?
I will check the air filter tomorrow. But otherwise truck runs good. Dont notice any blue smoke. No leaks....havent checked the plugs. Firestone said my dip stick was dry when i got the oil changed......
