Default new guy remote start question

Im new hear.
I just bought a flawless perfect 2011 Silverado extended cab. looks like it just rolled off the line.
This is my first Chevy since My 83 Chevette in Highschool, I loved that car.

Iv always wanted a remote start, And I see that it was an option, but my truck does not have it.
Is this something that the dealer can do? or can I order some fancy box and plug it in?
What are my options?

And anything I should check, modify, or not do?

you can get it aftermarket or should be able to through the dealer but its not as simple as just plugging something in, unless you're fairly savy with your hands and electrical wiring I wouldn't recommend doing it on your own.

check the rpo codes in the glove box. iirc the remote start ready code is either ap8 or ap3. with this code all they have to do is reprogram the rcdlr, bcm and add the fobs.
without remote start ready, they have to install a new hood switch, change the rcdlr and program the modules...which is more $$

aftermarket units are less expensive, have better range and still work when powertrain dtc are set but require splicing into factory wiring harnesses.

factory units are a cleaner installation, work seamlessly with the theft deterrent system and are more reliable imo. 7 years from now, you will still be able to get parts for it...good luck in the aftermarket for that.

Thanks, I contacted my dealership salesmen, not heard back yet.

At idle speed without the break in a turn I feel a little bog down, would that be the beginning of a power steering problem? I paid for an over the top warranty that is supposed to cover everything for another 58k miles.
