Default Oil Pressure Issues After AFM Delete

2008 Silverado, 5.3 engine, fresh rebuild, new cam, lifters, oul pump, pistons, rods, crank, all new. I'm still only seeing about 7 or 8 psi at idle. When the truck warms up the lifters go to ticking again. Just put a Melling high volume pump on it, little difference, changed trunion bearings, no change. The only thing I can't remember doing is removing that part above the oil filter and I also used the stock VLOM valley plate but blocked off all the galleys under it, I also left the VLOM connector off.
my question, would the missing VLOM connector cause low oil pressure or the part above the oil filter cause it.
This truck is getting on my nerves....thanks in advance for the help.

Turned out to be the stock valley pan, replaced it with a non DOD one, builds oil pressure now. Good luck.
