Oil pressure problems after DOD delete.

I am not having a good time with this rig.
Had a lifter collapse, rebuilt the entire engine, did a full dod delete, new camshaft, new camshaft bearings pressed in, valve job, the works.
As I didn't have the DOD system in place anymore, and given the oil consumption issues these rigs have due to splashing oil under the rings, I opted to put a new, non DOD oil pump in the rig.
Now I'm getting a check engine light after a few hundred miles. P0521 (oil pressure sender range) and my oil pressure seems low.
replaced the sender (again) replaced the screen, no change. Oil pressure is reading 18psi at idle. 40 psi at 4000 rpm, and about 20 at cruise (~1600 rpm)
the engine isn't acting like it's starved for oil, no rocker or valve noises. Any recommendations?
my guess is the computer doesn't like this range of pressures (which, admittedly, seems pretty low). I imagine there has got to be a way to boost voltage from the sender so the computer doesn't trip up, but I'm open to ideas.

I have seen new oil pumps come with two different O-rings for the pick up tube.
did you use the correct one. They will suck air and cause the problem you just described
