truck wont start
i have a 2012 silverado with the 5.3. today went to start it and starter cranks no fire. do have spark no fuel. now is where it gets interesting. i pop the cover off the fuse box under the hood to check the relay and fuse. when i look at the diagram under the lid, where the fuel pump relay should be there is nothing. the spot is dirty like its been gone a long time. then the spot where the fuse is supposed to be, same thing nothing there. i put a fuse and relay into the spot and still cannot hear the fuel pump. now i still havent craweled underneath to check power to the pump, but why would there be empty slots for the relay and fuse. anyone else found anything like this.
bc it uses a fuel pump control module...the fuses slots are for different builds from days gone by.
you are on the right track...the fuel pump will have power for 2 seconds when thekey is turned to run...at that point it stops unless thekey is turned to start...
if you have power and grd to the pump...and you can't hear the pump run and have zero fuel pressure...replace the pump.
if you don't have power....check the module.

under the truck...near the spare tire.
easiest way to replace the pump....if you have a hoist and trans jack...remove the driveshaft and tank.
if its you in a driveway,,,,you can remove the bed and get 6 friends to move the bed out the way.
or if you' re ok lying on yr back...drain the tank, remove the d shaft and lower the tank with a floor jack.
its 2.9 hours labour time at a shop $400 to $500 for labour plus parts.

As for the fuel tank issue He is spot on there also .
Easiest way is to remove bed because getting those lines disconnected can really make you great at creating new Nautical Terms … for things that have already got names …..
Other wise you’ll need a way to empty that tank first , And believe you me You want that tank empty Before you try to drop it . I learned that one the hard way .

Be aware that GM may have several different p/n’s for the same module . The very best way to get the right part is to use the GM # from the GM website .
Yeah I know this takes time but when you see the Insane prices GM wants for the same part that Rock Auto offers you’ll be glad you spent that time . Also if you record that number in your owners manual . You’ll have it already for future reference . IF it fails once it Can fail again .
Good luck in your search .
Also do NOT compare GM OEM parts prices to Aftermarket manufacturers ….. The Quality and reliability is NOT the same and that is why they are so much less expensive , Bottom line is How many times do you want to make this repair ?
