Why do I still love this truck?
2007 Silverado Classic LT bought new.
For the last year or so I've noticed an intermittent problem when braking. Sort of an off/on shudder. Since I replaced the rotors, wheel bearings, pads only about 18 months ago, it surely can't be the brakes so I went through the drills of checking the front lug nuts, suspension components, etc. This weekend I finally pulled the wheels off and found the front right pads were nearly gone. Well, being a rational man, I went to the local auto store and bought a set of new pads for the front axle. When I pulled the left front wheel off, those pads were barely worn. Hmmm, look at my service records and see that I've only driven about 5,000 miles since the parts were replaced. Further, the right caliper pistons didn't want to seat back in their bores so installing was quite the chore on the new, thicker pads.
Finally realized that the right caliper pistons (original calipers) were sticking so sprung for a set of new calipers, brake lines and hardware. Installed the new calipers and lines over the weekend and then took a 200 mile road trip on Saturday.
Wow, I have my old truck back again.
Even with 166k, this thing still drives, rides and stops like a new truck. Hopefully, it's got a few more years left in her.
