Hello and thanks in advance for any help. My 2014 Chevy Silverado LT 5.3 started leaking oil from the oil pan gasket. I replace the oil pan gasket and it stopped leaking. A day later I noticed oil on the ground. I crawled under the truck again thinking something might just need tightening to find out that the oil pan is completely dry on the outside of it so the leak isn't there. After further investigation and wiping off oil from the under carriage, I think I found the leak location. The problem is I can't tell where exactly it's coming from. There is oil on the front (towards the engine) side of the bell housing, but it doesn't seem to be originating from there. The round item in the attached picture seems to have a seal that might be the culprit. I have no idea which part this is or what may be above it. I'm referring to the round part that hangs down with a black ring on it and a hole in the middle of it. Anyone have any idea what this is? I was thinking that it might the bottom part of the rear main seal, but when I search online, it doesn't seem to look the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help. That worked. It was a gasket that a dealer replaced due to a recall on the brake booster pump. They didn't seat it properly. The good news is, they owned up to their mistake and they fixed it. I appreciate all your help.
