2014 Silverado AC Problems Already?
Just had my AC go out two weeks ago...of course out of warranty. I was told it would be two to three weeks to get one in...found out yesterday from GM 12,000 units are on back order, one to two months. Getting really frustrated with their answers (when I get some). 100° this week in Salt Lake...$45,000 truck, 3 years old and I can't drive it. I have bought and owned 17 GM vehicles...they are sliding quickly down the list! What are the rest of you doing about your AC not working?
My local mechanic thinks he has a lead on a replacement condenser, but not supposed to be here until next week. We'll see.
Okay, I bought my son the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 to take off to college. His AC quits working and we have a hand full of recall notices so I send him to the dealer when he gets out of school for the summer. They charge him $50 to tell him his condensor quit working and there aren't any available parts to fix it. Everything I see on the internet in regards to the AC this is a serious issue. Is Chevrolet reaching out to anyone to correct this? Will there be a recall? Frustrated! My son is in Starkville, MS in June - very hot.
Both me and my ex husband purchased 2014 Chevy Silverados. At almost 60K miles, both condensers failed. We each had them repaired to the tune of $1K. We have owned 5 other Silverados since 2005 and this never happened in the other ones. Very disappointing.
I took it into the shop and I was informed that the part is on National Back order. I was also told that I might be able to get it fixed but it would cost $1300 for the repair. Since the Chevrolet Dealers have bought all remaining Condenser's and marked the up from $300 to $800. So now my truck has been sitting in my yard for 3 months. I live in Houston and it is IMPOSSIBLE to drive here without an A/C. I ordered the part almost 3 months ago from a trusted Chevy Dealer. They have over 60 of them ordered and not a single one has come in.
In my honest opinion, this could be the biggest scam of all time. All of the truck's are having the same issue. So the dealerships buy all of the remaining condenser's nationwide at "cost". Then they mark them up to $800 because they know they are the only ones that have this part in the entire United States Of America.

although it sucks to not be able to fix it; the timing worked out so that at least you didn't have one of the old design parts installed so it could repeat fail in 3 years.
Add me to the list! And there will be many more! Purchased used 2014 Chevy Silverado w/ 19,500 miles.
AC went out yesterday with just 26,500 miles on it!
Wow!
As described so many times here, just started it up and it's now blowing hot air. (Just like their customer service)
Why is Chevy not owning up to these problems?!
I was advised by the NHTSA to do the following:
1) Contact: State attorney general
Advise on recourse
Class action lawsuit
2) Contact Federal Trade Commission - 877.382.4357
Chevrolet, if you make something that obviously has a design flaw you HAVE to fix it, else we all become Ford/Toyota customers! Get it?!

I bought my silverado in November of 2014 brand new. In June of 2015, my air went out, however, I was under warranty and didn't have to pay for it!!!! Well now that my two year warranty expired, guess what just happened again, you guessed it, my air is out again. I love my truck, but I know that it is not NORMAL for the AC to go out in multiple Chevy/GMC trucks. I need to see the company step up to the table and handle this defect in AC parts/assembly that's causing these issues. In other words, not only do I want my truck fixed by Chevy, a RECALL is in order, there are already 15 recalls on the 2014 silverado based upon the information found on the cars.com site, so why not prove to us owners that you value us as loyal customers by implementing this recall immediately. I would like to receive a response from Chevy/GMC and then we can talk privately.

I bought a brand new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country. The a/c stopped blowing cold air three weeks ago and I took it to the dealership the next day. They said it was the condenser and it would take less than 2 weeks for the part to arrive. Fast forward 3 weeks and the dealership and Chevrolet cannot give me any idea of when the part will arrive. Do they think it's acceptable to make their customer drive a truck everyday with no a/c, in the middle of June, in Dallas, Texas where the temperatures are in the high 90's with 100% humidity? No rental car was offered. I asked for one and they said it's only for safety hazards. Well, I don't think its safe to drive around all day with no a/c in this kind of heat. Especially if you have a baby, kids or a pet in the car. Chevrolet has known for years that this part is faulty and itshould have been a recall. Instead they want to wait until your warranty runs out and charge you for parts and labor. It's a total racket. I see a Class Action Lawsuit on the horizon. As a loyal Chevy buyer I will never, under any circumstances, buy another Chevy or GM product again and I will continue to urge anyone else to do the same. I will be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission this afternoon.
