Default A/C unit

Today, June 7, 2015, I have the same problem. The bad thing about this I'm 6 hours away in Louisiana from my Texas Home which is in Fort Worth with my kids. The A/C was blowing cold air, stopped to get gas and when I started it back up it began to blow hot air. I'm not looking forward to this hot a$! drive back. I was a loyal Chevy man... I think I may become a fan of Ford.

Just got my truck back. Took 10 days to fix...

500 miles on the truck, needed a new compressor, thermal valve, and mixing box.

The mixing box is deep in the dash...deep. Whole dash has to come out...and it is a ton of work. Service manager told me he has over 30 hours in the truck. Can you imagine the cost of the parts and labor?

The good news is that it is apparently fixed. Now we will see what remedy Chevy has to offer me.

I certainly would never have bought the truck had I known it would be delivered requiring a major rebuild at the dealership.

Delivering a $50 grand truck with non-functioning AC is a joke. How is it possible that it left the factory with these defects?

When I called Chevy corporate to make a formal complaint, the rep asked me if I was out of pocket any money. I told him I was out of pocket $50 grand, with no truck to drive. The rep then asked if I used the truck for work or pleasure...apparently that makes a difference to them. Go figure. They never offered me a loaner truck to replace mine. That's not in the play book.

This whole thing is very disappointing. I like buying American products, but honestly, the imports are beating us....in both quality and service.

I feel your pain the FIRST time mine went out with only 8,000 miles I was on my way home to Ft. Worth from vacation in the mountains and had to have it fixed in Lubbock. The SECOND time I took it to Bruce Lowrie and those guys did a good job fixing me up and getting me a loaner. I'm averaging about 9,000 miles between A/C fixes and by the looks of this board its a pretty common problem hopefully it will work out for you. I'm at 24,000 miles and trying to decide if I want to keep this tuck after the warranty expires or move on. I've always owned Chevy trucks but I think this will probably be my last. Good Luck on your fix.

We're so sorry to hear this happened, jbrass! We hope this didn't put too much of a damper on your trip back to Fort Worth, and we certainly wouldn't want this experience to steer you toward other manufacturers. If you're still in need of assistance please let us know. We're happy to connect with your primary dealership to ensure this gets taken care of. Just private message us your VIN and full contact information, along with your mileage if interested.

Default ac isues already

1.5 year old truck with 47k on it and a blown out ac line that none of the local dealerships have(in jax there are about 6 dealerships) and they are all on back order it sounds like theres a problem here that needs to be fixed for everyone! i have had more problems with this truck than i ever did with my 96. I cannot believe the lack of quality AND lack of not standing by your product. ac lines dont go bad due to mileage, they go bad with age....is this what i have to look forward to???

Default 2014 Sierra/ Silverado A/C Problems

Kristen,

December 23rd 2013 I purchased a New 2014 Sierra. On September 2nd 2014 at 35k miles the A/C compressor seized . So out of fear of owning a lemon I traded in for a New 2014 Silverado. On June 14th my A/C compressor stopped working . I have read countless similar forums and realize this is no coincident. I'm really tired of paying over $40,000 for junk not to mention the ridiculous amount of recalls.

Wow...hot topic. Besides the rants that have already been posted, I have a few suggestions. Look at the compressor. Is the clutch kicking in so the fanbelt spins the pulley? If it is, then you have a mechanical or Freon problem. If it isn't you may have a low pressure or a clutch power problem. OBD readers are pretty much required for most newer vehicles. AC systems are not complex, but the software that runs 'em can be. I've been using GM trucks at work for years and problems are few and far between...maybe I'm just blessed!

Default AC problem

I am beyond pissed of with this truck ever since I got it has been nothing but problems. First The transmission went out twice, then they had to put sims in my motor because it had a hard idle and by the way it still does. Now my ac went out and beyond pissed. All my life I've had ****ty cars then I get this brand new truck because I thought it was going to be reliable come to find out I've had more problems with this truck then I have ever had with any other of my vehicles.
